A: What’s that in your hand?
B: It’s a card. It says “You are invited to a concert next Thursday
to celebrate a very special event”.
A: When’s the concert and who’s playing?
B: I haven’t a clue. I don’t even know where it is. Or why I’m
invited. It’s all terribly mysterious.
A: Who’s the card from? Do you recognize the writing?
B: No... Wait a minute. I bet it’s from Alex.
A: How do you know?
B: Because Thursday is Valentine’s Day.
A: Why do you look so disappointed? He’s the nice guy who
owns a bookshop, isn’t he?
B: That’s right. Actually he’s quite good-looking: he’s tall and
slim, with blue eyes. His hair is long and curly and he laughs
a lot. Most people think that he’s charming. Except me: I find
him boring.
A: Poor Alex. Why don’t you answer his invitation and say yes?
B: You’re right. Why not?
(The day of the concert)
B: I’m going to that concert this evening but I don’t know what
to wear.
A: But your wardrobe is full of clothes!
B: Which do you prefer: this red dress or these green trousers?
A: Green is pretty, but red suits you even more. Now, it’s nearly
time to go. Have a good time.
B: Thanks. Wish me good luck!

A: Qu’est-ce que c’est dans ta main ?
B : C’est une carte. Elle dit : « Tu es invitée à un concert jeudi
prochain pour fêter un évènement très exceptionnel ».
A : Quand a lieu le concert et qui joue ?
B : Je n’en ai aucune idée. Je ne sais même pas où il est. Ni
pourquoi je suis invitée. Tout ceci est terriblement
mystérieux.
A : De qui vient la carte ? Est-ce que tu reconnais l’écriture ?
B : Non… Attends une minute. Je parie qu’elle est d’Alex.
A : Comment le sais-tu ?
B : Parce-que jeudi, c’est la Saint-Valentin.
A : Pourquoi as-tu l’air si déçue ? C’est le type sympa qui
possède une librairie, n’est-ce pas ?
B : C’est ça. En fait, il est plutôt beau : il est grand et mince,
avec les yeux bleus. Ses cheveux sont longs et bouclés, et il
rit beaucoup. La plupart des gens pensent qu’il est
charmant. Pas moi : je le trouve ennuyeux.
A : Pauvre Alex. Pourquoi ne réponds-tu pas à son invitation
en l’acceptant ?
B : Tu as raison. Pourquoi pas ?
(Le jour du concert)
B : Je vais à ce concert ce soir mais je ne sais pas quoi mettre.
A : Mais ta penderie est pleine de vêtements !
B : Lequel préfères-tu : cette robe rouge ou ce pantalon vert ?
A : Le vert c’est joli, mais le rouge te va encore mieux.
Maintenant, il est presque temps de partir. Passe un bon
moment.
B : Merci. Souhaite-moi bonne chance !
