A TOUR OF LONDON
Margret: So, David, what are we going to do at the weekend?
David: I’m not sure, maybe we’ll go sightseeing in London.
What do you think?
M: That sounds a good idea. I’d really like that.
D: Well, I thought we’ll be tourist and visit all the main
attractions.
M: I’ve got a map of London here.
D: Awesome! We can plan our trip?
M: Yeah, that’ll save time.
D: Look, there’s the River Thames.
M: Oh, yes. So, it is.
D: To make the most of the day, we will need to set out early.
We will catch the 8 o’clock fast train to Victoria. We will
arrive around 9 o’clock.
M: That will leave us plenty of time to go sightseeing.
D: I hope the weather will be good.
M: So, do I. When we arrive, we can go straight to
Westminster Abbey.
D: That’s where Prince William and Kate got married.
M: And there … look, there’s Buckingham palace.
D: Yes. And we could see the changing of the Guards. But we
must get there on time. There are always a lot of tourists.
M: I’m going to take a lot of photos with my phone.
D: You know the building with the clock; that’s the Houses of
Parliament and Big Ben.
M: That’s right! And just opposite is the London Eye. You can
see the whole of London from the top. Would you like to
go on it?
D: I’m not sure it’s a good idea, you have to queue for such a
long time.
M: Well maybe instead we’ll be able to go on a boat trip
along the River Thames to London Tower.
D: Yeah, that would be great. Shall we have lunch at Borough
Market? There are lots of food trucks which sell all kinds of
different hot food.
M: Ok! And where can we go after lunch, David?
D: It depends! If the weather is good, we could go to Hyde
Park and listen to interesting people at Speaker’s Corner.
M: Couldn’t we go shopping in Harrods?
D: I don’t think we’ll have enough time to go sightseeing and
shopping. I know what you’re like when you start
shopping, you shop for hours
M: Okay! What about going to The Tower of London to see
the crown jewels or to The National Gallery, where there
are a lot of masterpieces? Which would you prefer?
D: Can we go to The Tower of London? I’ve never been
there before.
M: I’d like to do both.
D: No, Margret, either one or the other. We won’t have time
to do both.
M: All right, the Tower of London it is. And a bit of shopping!
D: We’ll see! Well, we’d better get a good night’s sleep, it’s
going to be an early start tomorrow.

Margret : Alors, David, qu’est-ce qu’on va faire ce week-end ?
David : Je ne suis pas sûr, peut-être que nous irons visiter
Londres, qu’en penses-tu ?
M : C’est une bonne idée. J’aimerais bien.
D : Eh bien, je pensais que nous ferions du tourisme et que
nous visiterions toutes les attractions touristiques.
M : J’ai une carte de Londres ici.
D : Génial ! On peut programmer notre excursion ?
M : Oui, ça fera gagner du temps.
D : Regardez, C’est la Tamise.
M : Ah, oui. C’est ça.
D : Pour bien profiter de la journée, nous devrions partir tôt.
Nous prendrons à 8h le train à grand vitesse pour Victoria.
Nous arriverons vers 9h.
M : Cela nous laissera suffisamment de temps pour tout visiter.
D : J’espère qu’il fera beau.
M : Moi aussi ! Quand nous arriverons, nous pourrons aller
directement à l’abbaye de Westminster.
D : C’est là que le prince William et Kate se sont mariés.
M : Et là… regarder, il y a le Palais de Buckingham.
D : Oui. Et nous pourrions voir la Relève de la Garde. Mais
nous devons y être à l’heure. Il y a toujours beaucoup de
touristes.
M : Je prendrai beaucoup de photos avec mon téléphone.
D : Vous connaissez le bâtiment avec l’horloge ; il s’agit des
maisons du Parlement et de Big Ben.
M : C’est exact ! Et juste en face se trouve La Grand Roue de
Londres. D’en haut tu peux voir toute la ville. Tu-veux y aller
?
D : Je ne suis pas sûr que ce soit une bonne idée, vous devez
faire la queue pendant des heures.
M : Eh bien, nous pourrions peut-être faire une excursion en
bateau le long de la Tamise jusqu’à La Tour de Londres.
D : Oui, ce serait formidable. Devrions-nous déjeuner à
Borough Market ? Il y a beaucoup de Food Truck qui
vendent toutes sortes de repas chauds.
M : Ok! Et où pouvons-nous aller après le déjeuner, David ?
D : Cela dépend ! Si le temps est beau, nous pourrions aller à
Hyde Park et écouter des personnes intéressantes au Coin
des Orateurs.
M : Pourrions-nous aller faire du shopping à Harrods ?
D : Je ne pense pas que nous aurons assez de temps pour
faire du tourisme et du shopping. Je te connais, quand tu
fais les courses ça te prends beaucoup de temps.
M : D’accord ! Et si nous allons à la Tour de Londres pour voir
les joyaux de la Couronne ou au National Galerie, où il y a
beaucoup de chef d’œuvre ? Lesquels préfères-tu ?
D : Pouvons-nous aller à la Tour de Londres ? Je n’y suis
jamais allé.
M : J’aimerais faire les deux.
D : Non, Margret, l’un ou l’autre. Nous n’aurons pas le temps
de faire les deux.
M : Très bien, c’est la Tour de Londres. Et un peu de shopping
!
D : On verra ! Nous avons besoin d’une bonne nuit pour un
départ tôt demain.
