At the reception
A: Welcome to the Forty Towers hotel. What can I do for
you?
B: Do you have a room for two nights?
A: We’re very busy. Do you have a reservation?
B: No, I don’t.
A: Do you want a single room or a double room, madam?
B: I don’t mind. What do you have?
A: We don’t have anything for tonight. Oh, just a moment. I
have something on the third floor. It’s a single. The rate is
two hundred pounds a night and does not include
breakfast.
B: Does it include internet access?
A: Yes it does. And a daily paper. May I see some ID please?
And do you have a credit card?
B: Here are my driving license and my card.
A: Thanks. Here’s your key.You’re in room 2019. Do you have
any luggage?
B: No I don’t. Just this bag. It’s quite light. Where’s the lift?
A: It’s at the end of the corridor on the left. The staircase is
on the right.
B: I don’t know Birmingham very well. In fact, I don’t know it
at all. Do you have a map of the city?
A: Of course. Enjoy your stay.
(Later)
A: Hello. Reception. May I help you?
B: I can’t connect to the internet, the TV doesn’t work, the
windows don’t close, the pillows are too hard, the floor is
wet and the furniture is horrible!
A: I’m sorry madam, we’re having a few problems. Come
back next week.

A : Bienvenue à l’hôtel des Quarante Tours. Que puis-je faire pour vous ?
B : Avez-vous une chambre pour deux nuits ?
A : Nous sommes très occupés. Avez-vous une réservation ?
B : Non.
A : Voulez-vous une chambre simple ou double, Madame ?
B : Ça m’est égal. Qu’est-ce que vous avez ?
A : Nous n’avons rien pour cette nuit. Ah, un instant. Nous
avons quelque chose au troisième étage. C’est une
chambre simple. Le tarif est de £200 la nuit et n’inclut pas le
petit déjeuner.
B : Est-ce que cela inclut l’accès à Internet ?
A : Oui. Et un journal. Puis-je voir une pièce d’identité s’il vous
plaît ? Et avez-vous une carte de crédit ?
B : Voici mon permis de conduire et ma carte.
A : Merci. Voici votre clé. C’est la chambre 2019. Avez-vous
des bagages ?
B : Non. Seulement ce sac. C’est assez léger. Où est
l’ascenseur ?
A : Il est au bout du couloir sur la gauche. L’escalier est sur la
droite.
B : Je ne connais pas très bien Birmingham. En fait, je ne
connais pas du tout. Avez-vous un plan de la ville ?
A : Bien sûr. Bon séjour.

A : Bonjour. Ici la réception. Puis-je vous aider ?
B : Je ne peux pas me connecter à Internet, la télé ne
fonctionne pas, les fenêtres ne ferment pas, les oreillers
sont trop durs et les meubles sont horribles.
A : Je suis désolée, Madame, nous avons quelques problèmes
actuellement. Revenez la semaine prochaine.
