WHERE TO GO?
A: What are you doing with those travel books? Are you
looking for something?
B: No, I’m planning a holiday for my family. We always take a
fortnight in March or April. We usually go abroad, but this
year we’re going to Scotland.
A: Really? How are you going? By plane or train?
B: No, we often fly but this time we’re driving. I want to stop
somewhere and visit the Lake District on the way to
Glasgow.
A: How long does the journey take?
B: About four hours: I’m taking the M6 motorway.
A: Are you going with your friends, Pete and Meg? You
sometimes go away together.
B: No we’re not. Unfortunately, they’re not going on holiday
this year. They’re saving their money because they want to
go to China next summer or autumn. Now give me a
minute: I’m checking the weather forecast online.
A: I suppose it’s raining in Scotland. It usually rains heavily in
spring.
B: No, it’s snowing! The snow is falling on the Cairngorms
and people are skiing. It doesn’t normally snow at this
time of year. What’s happening with the weather?
A: What do you mean? You worry too much.
B: I’m talking about global warming. You know, temperatures
are rising, ice is melting and the climate is changing. I’m
reading a really interesting book about the problem.
A: May I ask you a question? If the world is warming, why am I
wearing a sweater?

A : Que fais-tu avec ces livres de voyage ? Es-tu en train de
chercher quelque chose ?
B : Non, je prépare des vacances pour ma famille. Nous
prenons toujours deux semaines en mars ou avril.
D’habitude nous allons à l’étranger, mais cette année nous
allons en Ecosse.
A : Vraiment ? Comment y allez-vous ? En avion ou en train ?
B : Non, nous prenons souvent l’avion, mais cette fois-ci, nous
prenons la voiture. Je veux m’arrêter quelque part pour
visiter la région des lacs sur le chemin de Glasgow.
A : Combien de temps prend le voyage ?
B : Environ quatre heures : je prends l’autoroute M6.
A : Tu y vas avec tes amis, Pete et Meg ? Vous partez parfois
ensemble.
B : Non. Malheureusement, ils ne partent pas en vacances
cette année. Ils économisent leur argent cat ils veulent aller
en Chine l’été ou l’automne prochains. Maintenant, donne-
moi une minute. Je vérifie la météo en ligne.
A : Je suppose qu’il pleut en Ecosse. D’habitude il pleut très
fort au printemps.
B : Non, il neige ! La neige tombe sur les Cairngorms et les
gens font du ski. Normalement il ne neige pas à cette
époque de l’année. Que se passe-t-il avec le temps ?
A : Que veux-tu dire ? Tu t’inquiètes trop.
B : Je parle du réchauffement climatique. Tu sais, les
températures montent, la glace fond et le climat change. Je
suis en train de lire un livre très intéressant sur le problème.
A : je peux te poser une question ? Si le monde se réchauffe,
pourquoi est-ce que je porte un pull ?
