Asking directions
A: Excuse me. Can you tell me how to get to the post office?
B: I’m sorry. I don’t know. I’m not from here.
(a minute later)
A: Excuse me; Do you know where the post office is?
C: Sure. It’s not far from here. Walk straight ahead until you
get to the high street. Then……
A: Sorry to interrupt you. How far is that?
C: It’s the second or third right. It’s the first traffic lights you
come to. When you get to the High Street, turn right and
then take the first left. It’s on that road.
A: Which side of the street is it on?
C: Coming from this direction, it’ll be on your right side. It’s
next to the sweets Ice Cream Shop. You can’t miss it. Do
you want me to repeat any of that?
A: No, that’s okay. I’ve got it. Thanks a lot.
C: You’re welcome.
Going to the Bank
Manager: Hello, I’m Francis Roberts, the accounts manager.
What can I do for you?
Client. We want to open a current account.
M. Okay I’ll get you an application form.
C. Is there a service fee for this type of account?
M. There is no fee for a regular current account.
C. Do you have a 24 (twenty-four) hour cashpoint?
M. Yes, of course. You’ll receive your new bank cards in about
two weeks.
C. When do you send out the monthly statements?
M. On the fifth of every month.
